Fairytale beginning

Once upon a time there was a little girl with white-blond hair, frosty blue eyes, a sassy attitude, and definite feelings about life, the universe, and everything. She was clever and fast and could dream impossible things, but she was heartless. She crashed through life not caring much about what other people wanted or who she hurt or whether there was a god, capitalized or not.

Once upon a time there was a young woman with dirty blond hair and it was the only thing about her that had changed since she was a child.

Once upon a time there was a 30-something with light brown hair who met a prince with dark skin and kind eyes and open hands who spoke softly and said he’d known her for years, her entire life, in fact, and showed her the scars where she’d hurt him without knowing. He breathed secrets into the space where her heart should have been and created a living, beating, tender thing that broke immediately. He held her as she cried, a little girl and a young woman and a 30-something and an old lady all at once. He dried her tears and squeezed her hand, then lifted her face to the horizon.

And they lived happily ever after.
