Jesus isn’t ashamed of your panic attack

Y’all, I had an actual panic attack last night. Not normal for me.⁣

It wasn’t even about anything important—I was gaming online, doing too many new things at once, and melted down.⁣

It was bad enough that my brain crashed. That I ran from my computer and abandoned my friends. That I cried over something silly.⁣

But the worst part was the shame.⁣

How stupid I felt for letting mundane circumstances overwhelm me into shutdown. And how spoiled! With all the REALLY BAD STUFF going on in the world, me juggling three unfamiliar technologies wasn’t “important enough” to justify a panic attack.

Taking a step back, I can see what happened.⁣

It wasn’t about this one event. Drop by drop, my mental/emotional cup has filled as we navigate this pandemic world. Every shifting plan, every new headline, every restriction, every creative solution—each one a drop in the cup.⁣

Until it simply couldn’t hold any more and spilled.⁣

But I don’t need to be ashamed of that moment. Because there is no condemnation in Christ (Rom 8:1) and God’s mercies are new every morning (Lam 3:22-23).

No matter what you’re freaking out about in these wild, weird days, it doesn’t matter to Jesus if it’s not “important enough” to freak out about.

In your stress, he is with you.⁣
In your panic, he is with you.⁣
In your worry, he is with you.⁣
In your fear, he is with you.⁣
In your sadness, he is with you.⁣
In your anger, he is with you.⁣
In your shame, he is with you.⁣

Whatever is threatening your peace, it’s important to Jesus because it’s important to YOU.⁣

Unburden yourself to him. Let the Prince of Peace refresh your weary soul and repair your fractured mind. He’s ready, willing, and able.⁣

Because he loves you.⁣

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” [Phil 4:7 NIV]

The peace of God will guard your heart
