If I’ve ever driven you somewhere, we’ve gotten lost.
Well. I wouldn’t say “lost.” Never, you know, lost-lost. More like took the scenic route. Had an adventure. A side-quest.
I just get caught up talking! Roads and stop signs are so boring, and our connection is so interesting. I see that other stuff all the time; this is a special moment we’re having here.
I swear I know where I’m going! And we always get there eventually! But this happens all. the. time.
It’s just so easy to get distracted when you’re going somewhere.
[pause for dramatic effect]
You know who doesn’t get distracted?
Jesus.
When you’re yakking away, letting shiny or interesting things veer you off course, he’s watching the road, keeping you from crashing and burning.
Jesus knows where you’re headed, the good plans the Father has for you. And it’s his heart’s desire for you to get there safe and sound. No matter how many times you take a wrong turn, miss an exit, or run a red light on your journey, he’s laser-focused on delivering you to your destination.
So, when you feel like you’ve lost your way, don’t worry—the Way hasn’t lost you.
“I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love.” [Rom 8:38-39 MSG]
